Courthouse on the Haunted Hill
Posted in Courthouses on Tuesday October 28 2008 @ 8:40pm
Wow, are there ever a lot of (allegedly) haunted courthouses! One need only consult the Googlenet oracle to learn about them:
- Florence, Arizona: An entire paranormal society has declared the Second Pinal County Courthouse haunted. The East Valley Paranormal Society rated the courthouse a 3 on a scale of 1 (no ghosts whatsoever) to 5 (more haunted than the library in Ghostbusters).
- Porter County Indiana: A self-described "ghost tracker" believes the propensity of the evidence points toward a haunted courthouse.
- Maryland: Is Chief Justice Taney haunting a Baltimore courthouse? He's probably experiencing unrest because nobody pronounces his name correctly. Well, that plus unresolved guilt regarding Dred Scott. Talk about your "judicial hellholes!"
- Corales, New Mexico: Haunted by an old bald man with a handlebar moustache! In the words of Count Floyd, "oooh, scary!" Hollywood is calling (really).
- Lake George, New York: mysterious non-people human forms in jail cells, the sound of birds whistling (gee, could it be...birds?), a non-battery-powered radio playing music, and inexplicable water on library chairs -- you decide!
- Lincolnton, North Carolina: According to one report, "an unusual image was captured on the courthouse surveillance cameras." The video picked up a woman writing on a notepad. Not so strange -- until you consider the fact that nobody was there! Evidently they've never heard of working late.
Is your courthouse haunted? Let us know! "Tis the season!
